What is BPO? BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing.
It is letting an outside party handle a part of the business process in order for a company to cut costs or save time. There are two main divisions in the BPO industry, namely the front office and the back office. The front office, as the name implies is the front line of the company. It means that there is direct contact between the clients and the company. In the BPO industry, most of the front office jobs are call center related jobs. These include customer service care hotlines where is direct communication between the client and the company when a client calls the company hotline and request a particular service to be rendered.
The back office is also and important part of the BPO industry. Back office services are processes that indirectly affects the clients. It is the technical part of the company that operates behind the front lines or the front office. The back office part of the BPO industry includes operation services, technology services, human resource services, information technology services, accounting services and anything that is at the back end of the company. These work load of the back office usually comes from the business that is acquired by the front office.
The unsung hero of any business is the back office. With out the back office, the front office will not be able to function efficiently. The front office relies on the back office for support and administrating process within the business. The back office may not seem like much but it contributes to a majority of the process within a business. With the numerous services that a back office provides, one these processes include data processing.
Data processing is the heart and soul of any information driven business. It is the process of compiling and analyzing different kinds of information and data and transforming it into meaningful data that a company can use in it’s daily operations. An example of the data process is where you can convert paper records into digital records. Digital records are easier to manipulate and this makes data processing an important part of any business. These digital records can be stored, transferred, analyzed and processed to meet the specific needs of a business in an instant compared to paper records.
The back office and data processing go hand in hand together. The relationship between the two is due to the fact that the back office is where most of technical aspects of the company are handled. This includes the different information and data that comes form different sources including the front office where the data and information needs to be processed accordingly to the needs of the business.
The thing you should know about back office is that it can be a type of outsourcing services. The back office is the support and administration part of a business where daily operations of a business are processed behind the scene. Clients and customers do not usually see the direct impact of the back office but in reality, it is one of the major factors for a successful business.
